From the parking lot Zans in the farthest Villnöss valley you follow the signs in the direction of "Schlüterhütte". On a wide path you go up to the Gampenalm at 2062 meters. Either right on the goods road or left on footpaths you hike up to the Schlüterhütte at 2301 meters; from Zanser Alm about 2 to 2:30 hours.
From the Schlüter hut you walk for about 45 minutes up to the Kreuzkofeljoch and on a flat path over the grassy slopes eastwards to the Peitlerscharte at 2357 meters. Following the signpost "Peitlerkofel", you hike steeply up serpentines to a saddle between the west and main peaks at about 2780 meters.
On the left, the west summit can be reached in a few minutes; on the right, the path leads up over the rocks to the summit slope on the via ferrata equipped with fixed ropes. Memorize the end of the via ferrata for the descent! The descent is via the same route and can be done in about 3 hours
